The Lord's Prayer is 66 words, the Gettysburg Address is 286 words, there are 1,322 words in the Declaration of Independence, but government regulations on the sale of cabbage total 26,911 words.

District Six City Council Member
Jerry Duncan

Thank you for visiting the District Six website. As your representative for District Six in the City of Fresno, it is an honor to serve you. In order to provide you the best information possible, I have chosen not to use the City of Fresno's server but have chosen to pay for and design my own website for the District. The entire cost of this is paid for by me and is not supported in any way by your tax dollars. I decided to do this because it is so important that you get the best most up to date information regarding City issues and issues affecting you, the residents of the District and I wanted the freedom to communicate with you in an honest and open manner.

This website is organized in a simple way and hopefully information can be accessed easily. If you have any suggestions on how it can be improved, please let me know.

You can also e-mail me by clicking here. I will answer your e-mail.

No to Increase in Woodward Park Entrance Fee

Our office has just received the proposed changes to the City's Master Fee Schedule. Included in this is a proposed increase to the entrance fee of Woodward Park for non-residents from the current $3 to $5.

I will not support this increase. It is important that we encourage the use of our public parks, especially since we have just made several improvements that will make Woodward Park more popular for out-of-town visitors. We need to make using Woodward Park easier to use, not harder.

All the increase will accomplish is to encourage people to park outside of the park to avoid the fee. This means that residential streets and shopping centers near Woodward Park will fill up with parked cars and make it difficult for the residents, shoppers and business owners nearby.

It is also wrong to be increasing fees and taxes during tough economic times. Making ends meet during government shortfalls is governments fault, not the taxpayers fault.

Traffic Delays on Champlain This Week

Intermittent lane closures are scheduled on Champlain between Friant Road and Perrin Avenue from 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday

New Lower Speed Limit on Ft. Washington

With the activity at the shopping center and new senior housing facility expansion being constructed, the curvilinear roadway design is posing sight distance and reaction time (gap acceptance) issues for some motorists along Fort Washington between Friant  and Champlain. Traffic Engineering has performed the necessary sight distance evaluations and are using engineering judgment to lower the posted speed limit to improve safety of both motorists and pedestrians along Fort Washington.

Public Works will be lowering the speed limit on Fort Washington to 35 MPH today (Friday March 14).

The Police Department will be issuing warnings for the first week  for anything less than the previously posted speed limit of 40 MPH and a ticket for anything over the previously posted speed limit to help make motorists on Fort Washington aware of the new posted speed limit.
