The 6th Council District encompasses Fresno's Northeast and showcases the very best in the Central California lifestyle.  As Fresno's fastest growing district, it has a population of about 70,000 people. The district is bounded by the area East of North Blackstone Avenue to the Clovis border and North of East Bullard Ave. It is an area primarily composed of housing and retail businesses. The areas amenities include easy access to the San Joaquin River Parkway, Woodward Park, Millerton Lake Recreation Area (10 Minutes away) and the newly competed Sugar Pine Urban Trail.

Neighborhoods include the lakefront living at Woodward Lake and Fresno's only Planned Community, The Dominion. It is an area that consists of middle-class to affluent residential areas.

BUSINESS  PROFILE
Business is booming in District 6. While being primarily a residential area, the 6th district has many large modern office complexes throughout the district and is the headquarters for Gottschalk's Department Stores. Available office space is modern, cost effective and new construction is ongoing. With convenient freeway access, district Six is becoming a corporate center.

The district includes Fresno's premier restaurant, shopping and entertainment area, River Park. This popular center includes one of the most successful movie theatre complexes in the country as well as upscale shopping with many sidewalk/patio seating restaurants.

REAL ESTATE/HOUSING
To those who are fortunate enough to move to Fresno from the San Francisco Bay Area or Los Angeles, they all suffer serious sticker shock. They are stunned as to how affordable and plentiful housing is in this area. District 6 is no exception. You can buy a house in district 6 that could easily cost 3 to 4 times that in those other areas. Housing costs are extremely affordable here and is just one reason why more and more companies are looking at Fresno to relocate or expand.

There are many excellent residential areas all throughout the district. To illustrate just a few examples, for those who prefer the peace and serenity of a maturing area, they may prefer Southern area near Fresno State. It offers tree lined streets and large single story homes. In addition, the original Woodward Park Area offers the same maturing landscape, large, beautiful custom homes combined with a very convenient location. If lakefront living is what you desire, Woodward Lake offers a variety of homes on a lake large enough for non-motorized water sports and fabulous fishing.

The Dominion is another prime residential area. As Fresno's only planned community, it is a large area highlighted by miles of tree lined trails and local neighborhood parks. Very easy access to Woodward Park, The River Parkway, and the Sugar Pine urban trail make the Dominion very popular.
