Welcome To The District Six Website

Return

Developers often come to the NE Plan Committee at the start of a project to get feedback. It saves them time and money since it is much easier to make changes at the beginning of a project rather than at the end and it insures the residents of District Six have a voice.

As District Six grows, it is imperative that the process that manages this growth is one of  professional planning that supports our 2025 General Plan and not political planning. In order to accomplish this, a process has been established that allows for clear communication between the homeowners in the area, city staff and the developer who would propose to build in our district.

Homeowners need to know about proposed projects and have their concerns listened to and addressed. The builders need to have access to the homeowners and have a fair and reasonable opportunity to resolve issues before a significant investment is made. City staff needs to have one voice that truly represents the voice of the homeowners of the district.

In January of 2001 the Northeast Plan Review and Implementation Committee was formed. It was patterned after other similar Committees in other areas of Fresno.

The Northeast Community Plan Review and Implementation Committee is a volunteer, citizen-based committee that is an input and review resource for growth and development projects in District Six. This organization is a non-political link between developers, city staff, the public and the City Council-member for the district. It is the official voice of the homeowners in the District when land use issues are involved.

The committee consists of seven members. Six are appointed by the Councilmember and one is appointed by the Mayor.

The responsibilities of this committee are:

  1. Review all development projects and entitlements and make recommendations to the Developer, Development Director, Planning Commission and the District 6 City Council-member.

  2. On an annual basis, evaluate the performance of District 6 Community Plans and make recommendations to the District 6 City Council Member for amendments to the plan.

  3. By January 1 of each year, recommend to the District City Council-member, budget recommendations for implementing the District 6 Community Plans.

Meetings are open to the public and are organized by and the agenda established by the City of Fresno Development department.

The current representatives are:
