Todd Beamer Park Concept Plan Completed

The plans for Todd Beamer Park at N. Maple and E. Plymouth are complete. What has made this park unique is that the elements that will make up the park and it's basic design was done by those who live in the neighborhood. Neighbors where given multiple opportunities to provide input as to what they wanted there park to be and the amenities that would make up Northeast Fresno's newest park.

Perhaps the highlight of the whole process was when the entire third grade class as Copper Hills Elementary met with the Fresno City Parks Department and Councilman Duncan and his staff to participate in an exercise where they got to help prioritize what this park will ultimately become.

Plans are for construction to begin in November 2007 with completion by summer of 2008. To all who participated, thank you for making the idea of going to the neighborhood for input such a success.

Fresno and Sierra Left Turn Signal Update

The following was provided by the City Public Works Department regarding the instillation of a left-turn signal at Sierra and Fresno Street.

"The intersection of  Fresno and Sierra is ranked No. 2 on the 2006 Left-Turn Signal Priority Work Sheet that was approved by the City Council. It is currently funded for construction to modify the signal to add left-turn phasing.  The final plan check was reviewed with the Engineer of Record last week to help expedite the project. The Engineer of Record is planning to return the plans for final review and signature in the near future.  It is Engineering's understanding, the project will be going out to bid this year for construction."

Redistricting changes District 6 boundaries.

Due to significant population growth, especially in Northeast Fresno, City Council Districts will be changing slightly. District Six has grown rapidly over the last several years and will actually be shrinking a little bit. as a result, some areas located South of Herndon Ave. will be moving into District 7 and District 4.

As a result of the change, all seven City Council Districts will again very very close in population. The change will formally occur on March 23rd.

To those who will be moving into a new Council District, I would like to thank you for the honor of being your City Council representative over the last six years.

STOP THIS NEIGHBORHOOD GRAFFITI

The City has recently adopted a new ordinance that will permit City Code enforcement personnel to remove signs such as those below and issue to the individual whom places these on public property a citation of $75 for each sign.

These types of illegal signs are often left up after the event and are an eyesore and can be dangerous. There have been cases where people are actually covering stop signs to promote their yard sale.
